Conference Overview
The CINE-Live (Cardiac Intervention NEwcastle) two-day conference will provide an exciting educational opportunity comprising live cases, didactic lectures and practical demonstration with simulation-based hands-on training, supported by renowned national and international expert faculty.
The main learning objective:
Demonstrate the holistic approach to complex coronary artery interventions.
Sessions will include left main stem interventions, chronic total occlusion, mechanical support devices, calcium assessment and management, and a complication session. In addition, there will be a demonstration and hands on taining.
The Freeman hospital is a bastion of cardiovascular interventions with a great track record of both research and education. It has always been at the forefront of cardiovascular innovations with a documented track record in education.

Rooms can be booked for the night of 21 Setember 2026 only.
A non-refundable bedroom booking fee of £1 is also applicable to the room. If the room is booked, but you do not attend the conference and/or your room is not used, you will be charged the full cost of the room, in addition to the £19 administration charge for no-shows.

Dr Bilal Bawamia


Mohaned Egred is a professor of Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine and a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
Professor Egred is internationally recognised as one of the leading interventionalists in complex and CTO PCI with a special expertise in this area. He is an international proctor, physician trainer and a faculty member of numerous international meetings and a regular live case operator. He is the director of the CTO CHIP and complex PCI fellowship and the lead for complex, CHIP PCI and mechanical support devices
He regularly conducts training courses for consultant colleagues in multiple coronary interventions including chronic total occlusion, complex coronary interventions and adjunctive devices such as rotablation and laser.
Professor Egred is in the top three highest volume operators in the UK with special interest in complex and high risk interventions and surgical turn down patients. In addition, he is the lead for percutaneous mitral valve interventions.
He is the clinical lead for cardiovascular research at the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has over 140 peer reviewed published papers with a multitude of oral presentations and has served as the clinical and educational section editor of the Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
Professor Egred serves as an expert for the UK Government Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman and has served as the clinical and educational section editor of the Journal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and is a regular reviewer for major international journals. He is a UK national excellence award holder.
Dr Bilal Bawamia is a consultant interventional cardiologist at the Newcastle’s Freeman hospital specialising in percutaneous coronary interventions.
He graduated from Newcastle University in 2010 with Distinction and completed his postgraduate cardiology training in the North East, and has a Doctor of Medicine research degree from Newcastle University. He then went on to undertake a complex coronary intervention fellowship in Dublin before starting his consultant post at the Freeman Hospital in 2022.
He is experienced in treating patients with complex coronary artery disease and has an interest in intravascular imaging, coronary calcium modification and chronic total occlusions. He is active in research and education.
