Summary - BCIS Interventional Trainees Course

This immersive two-day course is designed specifically for interventional cardiology trainees, delivering a dynamic blend of expert-led lectures, case-based discussions, live demonstrations, and extensive hands-on simulation. With a strong emphasis on practical learning and real-world application, the programme spans the full spectrum of contemporary interventional practice.

Key themes include core PCI principles, intracoronary imaging and physiology, calcium management, and complex intervention strategies, alongside dedicated sessions on complications, human factors, and decision-making beyond the cath lab. Delegates will also benefit from interactive case discussions and live case sessions, fostering critical thinking and peer-to-peer learning.

A standout feature of the course is the comprehensive hands-on training, offering small-group rotations across a wide range of simulators—from fundamental techniques such as wiring and femoral access, to advanced skills including atherectomy, bifurcation strategies, imaging (IVUS/OCT), and mechanical support devices.

In addition to clinical content, the programme addresses career development, including navigating MDTs, building a competitive consultant profile, and transitioning from training to consultancy.
